Georgetown, TX Outdoor Kitchen Adds Spice To Existing Covered Patio
Sorry, to brag, but this installation deserves some loving.
Among Georgetown, TX outdoor kitchen builders, ours is – how should we say it? – AMAZING!
When we arrived at our new client’s home for their free, no-obligation design consultation, the only outdoor living space feature in their backyard was an existing covered patio – and pretty sweet it was.
But, alas, the homeowners were foodies – and you know what that means. Truly world-class meals will be lovingly prepared at every opportunity for family, friends and even some very lucky neighbors.
Custom Outdoor Kitchens You Will Absolutely Love Throughout Georgetown
No matter how you look at it, this project is much more than your typical covered patio amenities and covered patio upgrades. What was really cool about this project was that the clients wanted virtually every convenience they had inside their interior house kitchen to be duplicated outside in their covered patio.
No problem!
Interestingly enough, the home was a new build, so our outdoor kitchen installation really completed this new move-in transition beautifully.
According to Archadeck designer Jim Schallon, Archadeck of Austin designed and installed this snazzy new outdoor kitchen in an existing covered patio space that was until then just an area to lounge, relax, and enjoy the evening sky.
What was missing was the aromatic pleasures that were typically found inside their kitchen.
To the left of it, you’ll notice an extra-wide outdoor grilling station for steaks, hamburgers, hot dogs, and another family favorite – grilled vegetables.. Also, notice the generous storage drawers below the grill and the gas stove top burner. Once stocked with their preferred essentials, there is no longer a need to go back into the house because “Oops, I forgot something!”
The far left includes a pull out trash drawer for food trash, as well as recyclables.
And in case you didn’t notice, check out that big red smoker at far right, atop – and surrounded by, the stacked stone foundation.
It’s the Kamado Joe Ceramic Grill and Smoker, and low and slow is the way to cook with it.
The generously-sized 42-inch diameter features a grill that also has a rotisserie that cooks with infrared heat, a 20-inch power burner, trash can, storage, and a warming drawer. The setup is so complete that there are even 3 additional power outlets in the backsplash.
The beautifully rich stonework is Limestone with a Buff Lueder’s cap. We chose Lueder’s as it is a tried and true Texas limestone and is sawn on top, as well as the bottom.
It contains a rich variation in gradients and colors from buff, light-gold, dove gray, to even deep-golds. If you happened not to be familiar with it, Lueders limestone originates from a well-established stone quarry in North Texas.
Native to North Texas, this rectangular-shaped limestone showcases abundant shades of charcoals and grays. Lueders natural stone veneer presents a timeless classic look to any application. Formal sawn heights in buff, white, cream and brown have made this a popular choice.
Because of the size of the grill, the kitchen needed to be designed and built with a larger depth than we typically construct, since once you get over a 36-inch grill, the lid of the grill descends further back. So it requires a standard depth surface (30-inches with a 6-inch backsplash) to accommodate the swing of the back of the lid/cover of the grill. This finished outdoor kitchen is 42-inches deep per the final specs.

Also, the cap on the backsplash is a little bigger than normal to coincide with the other larger dimensions. And if the client wants to screen the patio cover, it can easily be done without obstruction.
Should readers be interested in having us design an outdoor kitchen for them, too, make note that a building permit is now required in Georgetown, TX as well as Round Rock – which is a recent requirement.
When planning, new outdoor kitchen clients may want to contact their local building department and inquire to make sure they are aware when planning and budgeting.
